REAL BAKER was dominant at Bathurst, appreciating a firm track, a good barrier, and was untroubled to win over 1200m. Jumping well from barrier 3, Winona Costin had him comfortably leading and going at a strong clip. Turning for home she gave him a couple of reminders, and he then was under no pressure to increase his lead to approx. 4.5l on the line, in a smart time of 1.09.35, with the last 600m in 34.52. Bjorn will look to progress to either the Provincials, or, possibly a midweek metro over a little further ground, next week.
BROADWAY FOLLIES returned to the trials, at Gosford, after a 47 week break following knee surgery. On a badly chopped up track, she was given an easy time of it, pleasing her jockey Olivia Chambers with the way she returned, commenting “she felt stronger this time in” (Olivia had previously ridden her when with Bjorn). She will have another trial to fit her for a race day return.
REAL MAGICAL will have her 2nd trial this week, on Friday, at Rosehill, over 900m. Coming through her first trial well, and eating all in sight, she appears to be thriving as she continues her early racing education.
CUESTA will have a jump out on Thursday, at Warwick Farm, and all going to plan, we should see her ready to trial, late May/early June.
FOXGLOVE is down to commence pre training next week, with a return to Bjorn’s Warwick Farm stables, mid June, on the cards.
Have a top week.
