SMART CRY got a touch of the “CUESTA’S” with an interrupted run at Newcastle yesterday, and never saw day light, until the race was all over. Well placed from the barrier, a chance to go to the outside was available fleetingly, before being closed off. RACING   SMART CRY went to Newcastle for a Class 2 Hcp, over 1200m, on the Beaumont track. A soft 6, after overnight rain, saw a bias towards runners on the speed. She had no luck as they turned for the run home, when horses went round her at the top of the straight, which saw her held up for run, only getting clear with 100m to go. CUESTA has gone for a break, given the playing out of the same song sheet, at Newcastle, on Saturday. Bad gate, interrupted run in transit, finding one who got all the breaks in the run, drew well, with the run raced to suit. CUESTA performed her usual honest self, finishing strongly to register her 3rd  2 nd  placing in  arrow. Will spell for approx 6 weeks.   SMART CRY has come through her trials well, and has been nominated for next Monday, at Newcastle, in a Class 2 Hcp,

RACING   CUESTA had her normal bad gate to contend with, on Saturday at Newcastle, drawing outside but one, over the 1850m. Squeezed up mid race, and held up for a run coming to the turn, saw her get to the outside with approx 200m to go. By then the race was over, as the winner had an easy 1 out 1 back run, got clear at top of straight and sprinted to put the race out of doubt.
